Patricia (Patty) Louise Barnes, 89, Bryant, AL, passed away at home on Saturday, January 4, following a brief illness.
Patty was a graduate of South Pittsburg High School. She loved crafting and painting in her younger years. Her children, Diana and Darian, were her pride and joy. She retired from being a bank teller then for many years, along with her husband, was owner of B&B Crafts and Florist in South Pittsburg, TN. She was also a member of and active in Our Lady of Lourdes Catholic Church. After retirement, Patty loved outdoor work in her garden and yard and could be seen on her mower. Patty, or Granny as most of her family calls her, was always taking care of everyone. She loved to crochet blankets and play sudoku and rook. She loved cooking and making desserts with her granddaughters. She will be dearly missed by her family and friends.
She is preceded in death by her husband of fifty-six years, William I. Barnes; daughter, Diana Barnes Wynne; parents, Joseph and Bessie Scharer; brothers, Ted and Don Scharer.
She is survived by her son, Darian (Annette) Barnes; grandchildren, Ben (Amanda) Gatlin, Sara (James) Watson, Zane (Laurel) Barnes, Michelle (Tony H.) Barnes, Emily (Will) Trantham, and several great grandchildren; sisters, Ann Ridley and Sue Stephens, of South Pittsburg, and Reba Scharer, of Chattanooga, TN and several nieces, nephews and friends.
Visitation will be held on Wednesday, January 8, from 4 p.m. to 6:30 p.m. and on Thursday, January 9, from 10 a.m. to noon at Rogers Funeral Home in South Pittsburg.
Mrs. Barnes will be moved from Rogers Funeral Home to Our Lady of Lourdes Catholic Church. Funeral Mass will be held on Thursday, January 9, at 12:30 p.m. at Our Lady of Lourdes Catholic Church, 700 Holly Ave, South Pittsburg, TN, with Father Mark Scholz officiating.
Mrs. Patricia Barnes will be laid to rest with her beloved husband, William I. Barnes at Cumberland View Cemetery in Kimball, TN.
