Local father and son duo hope to provide comfort and awareness through new hobby born out of struggle.

Jerry Kilgore, father of Dylan, is a local hair stylist at Karma salon for 6 years. Dylan and Jerry of Jasper were hit with some heartbreaking news last February. Dylan was diagnosed with a brain tumor; thankfully, Dylan started chemotherapy on March 1 and is doing well now.

During their downtime, Jerry and Dylan found a passionate new hobby of painting. While painting, they had a big idea. They decided to paint some beautiful pieces, and auction them off through a raffle and spread awareness to help kids like Dylan have a glimmer of hope in their hearts during these difficult times.

They will be selling tickets for $5 a piece at many different locations and individuals throughout the town. Karma Salon and Blue Violet Home Care will be selling tickets at their locations. Jerry will be advertising the raffle and showing the paintings on his Facebook page. The tickets will be sold throughout October and November. They will have the raffle and announce the winner on Thanksgiving Day.

Jerry explained they are selling their personal work because, “We wanted to help those who aren’t as fortunate as Dylan and myself are, and let them have a little bit of peace.”

In addition to the raffle and all the proceeds going to the Children’s Oncology Hospital, they are accepting donations. That could be anything from money, to toys, to blankets, etc. Overall, Dylan and Jerry are incredibly excited to help out people in similar situations and hope to inspire others.
