In a unanimous move to regulate standards across the county, Whitwell board of commissioners approved the addition of several paid holidays for all city employees.
Previously, Jasper and South Pittsburg had 14 paid holidays while Whitwell only had 11. Mayor Sandra Crabtree brought the item to the board’s attention in an effort “to be uniform across the county.” Commissioner Dillon motioned to approve the addition of the holidays and Commissioner Adams seconded the motion. Following which the board approved without objection. The county officials and workers will enjoy the following as paid holidays moving forward:
New Year’s Day
Martin Luther King Day
Presidents Day
Good Friday
Memorial Day
Juneteenth
Fourth of July
Labor Day
Columbus Day
Veterans Day
Thanksgiving and Black Friday (the day after Thanksgiving)
Christmas Eve and Christmas Day
