Orena Humphreys Public Library in Whitwell hosted their annual Halloween at the Library event during the spooky holiday.
During the event, families were invited to partake in various Halloween themed activities. Cathy Black, Orena Humphreys’ Library Director, explained the event was created to help bring the community together for Halloween and introduce newcomers to the local library and its programs. The event is the second one hosted at the library’s current location just off of Highway 28. Previous Halloween at the Library events were held at its original location on North Main Street.
The event provided several activities for children and their parents to get involved in, ranging from baking Halloween cookies to scavenger hunts, drawings and ring tossing. For children who were unable to get a costume for Halloween, a costumes bin was available for them to pick and choose different costumes.
Black explained Halloween at the Library has grown into a community favorite since it first began, attracting many from around the area to partake in all the fun. However, this year’s Halloween event received slightly less visitors than normal due to the holiday landing on game night.
“There’s not quite as many as last year, and we had a lot last year,” said Black.
Regardless, this year’s Halloween at the Library attracted many returning families and new visitors alike in celebration of Halloween. The library is currently gearing up for additional holiday activities that the public is invited to attend, such as its Cookies with Santa event scheduled for December.
