South Pittsburg’s new government website has been given the thumbs up of approval by all members of the town’s Board of Mayor & Commissioner, with its launch announced during the community’s recent monthly city meeting.
City Administrator Michael Hudson explained he had received feedback from residents about the city’s previous website being down. He noted the site was taken offline as part of the transition to the newly designed platform.
The website was built through Revize, a company specializing in government website design. Hudson noted that both he and City Recorder Heather Pickett were required to complete two training courses on website maintenance and information updates. Both have since completed the courses and received certification, enabling them to manage the new site.
During the discussion, Vice Mayor Matt Stone asked about the site’s features. Hudson stated that the website will include direct links to the Public Works department and the city’s social media profiles. It will also provide current information on all city meetings.
When asked about posting meeting minutes, Hudson assured the Board that all minutes and agendas would also be kept current. He noted that the training he and Pickett received prepared them to manage these updates.
The website is expected to go live for public viewing very soon, with additional information and features to be added over time for residents to be kept informed, as well as to further improve the site’s functionality.
