New ballfields for Crossroads Park announced during public meeting

The Board of Mayor & Aldermen in Powells Crossroads during their annual city meeting recently announced two new ballfields planned to be installed for Crossroads Park.

City Recorder Missy Lane explained during Park Reports how the community’s Park Board got together and began talks about installing two new ballfields at the community park. Lane stated how Board member Trevor Lawson . Further pricing for both fencing and the ballfields are to be passed along to the City Board once properly estimated.

Whilst interviewed,  Lane explained how the proposed project would take up to two months maximum before ground can officially be broken. The project is set to be complete by next year or beyond. Both fields are planned to encompass Field 1. Due to Field 1’s expansive size, both fields can be divided and situated to fit inside the outfield. Both fields are also projected to be utilized for softball and tee-ball games, with the Park Board looking to expand the park’s usage by having six ball fields in total for the general public to use during peak ball season.

“During tournaments they can branch out and play more games at one time. So therefore they’re not playing late at night,” stated Lane.

Further discussion and work on both ballfields is currently in the making, with the Park Board needing to receive quotes and finalize on pay for both fields before all acquired information gets passed on to the City Board for full approval.
