Nancy Louise (Rorex) Swearengin, 83

Nancy Louise (Rorex) Swearengin, 83, of Jasper passed away on Tuesday, September 24, at her home surrounded by her immediate family.

Born on January 16, 1941, in Bridgeport, Alabama, Nancy was the eleventh of twelve children to be born to George Riley and Hettie Vaughn Rorex.  She was a member of the Kimball Church of Christ and was employed by the Chattanooga Bicentennial Library for 34 years.

She is preceded in death by her husband, Henry Swearengin, her parents, and her brothers and sisters, Elvis, Milton, Luna, Mary Lois, Kenneth, Robert, George, Marie, Josephine, Dean, and Raymond.

She is survived by her daughter, Renee (David) Prophater; son, Steve (Renee) Swearengin; grandsons, Keith (Melissa) Grooms and Truman Swearengin; great-grandson, Kevin Grooms, and several nieces and nephews.

Funeral services will be held on Tuesday, October 1 at 1 p.m. in the Jasper Chapel of Rogers Funeral Home, 21 East Fifth St., with Truman Swearengin, Wayne Rorex and David Prophater officiating.

Mrs. Swearengin will be laid to rest with her beloved husband at Sequatchie Valley Memorial Gardens Cemetery in Jasper.

Visitation will be held on Monday, September 30, from 4 p.m. to 7 p.m. and on Tuesday, October 1, from 11 a.m. to 1 p.m. prior to the funeral service in the Jasper Chapel of Rogers Funeral Home.

Pallbearers will be Mike Lee, Keith Grooms, Terry Murphy, Barry Green, Darrell Smith, Daniel Albright, Truman Swearengin and David Prophater.
