The owners of M&W Disposal Services, a family-owned waste management business based in East Ridge, recently offered their services to the town of Powells Crossroads during a city meeting.

Amber MetCaff, daughter of owners Tommy and Maria MetCaff, presented to the Board of Mayor and Aldermen about the family business and their desire to offer waste disposal services to the community. Amber explained that her father had over 30 years of experience in the waste management industry. After founding M&W Disposal in 2022, the business quickly grew into a highly rated company, serving the greater Chattanooga area, as well as Catoosa and Walker Counties in neighboring Georgia. The family is now looking to expand their services to Marion County, aiming to serve residents throughout the area.

“If you allow us to bring our service to your county, we promise excellent customer service, dependability, and dedication,” Amber stated.

When Alderman Greg Davis inquired about the type of equipment M&W Disposal uses, Tommy MetCaff explained that they recently invested in a new $60,000 truck and a 16-foot dump bed trailer with a tarp to contain the garbage. Tommy also emphasized that he prefers using smaller trucks and equipment for residential pickups, as larger dump trucks tend to leak fluids like water, oil, and hydraulic fluid, creating environmental hazards on public roads.

Tommy expressed interest in expanding M&W Disposal’s services to Powells Crossroads, as well as to Whitwell and Jasper. However, Alderman Davis pointed out that the decision ultimately depends on public interest, as many residents currently use the town’s convenience center to dispose of their trash. He noted that if residents become aware of the new service, they may be more inclined to change their trash disposal habits.

“Most people use the convenience center here, but if they know they have a dumping service available, they may change,” said Davis.

The Board of Mayor and Aldermen agreed to help spread the word about M&W Disposal’s services by posting information online. M&W Disposal charges $20 a month and offers to pick up up to eight bags of garbage per week for residents interested in having their trash removed directly from their homes.
