On September 25, at approximately 10:17 a.m., a multi-vehicle crash occurred on the eastbound side of Interstate 24 near mile marker 131. The incident appeared to impact both directions of the highway, causing significant traffic delays. Due to a fatality involved in the crash, an investigation is underway. The rain system preceding Hurricane Helene further complicated efforts to clear the scene, which took most of the day. The crash has since been cleared, though no additional information has been released at this time.
