Mildred Sparkman Folds, 88 of Bridgeport, AL passed away Thursday, April 2 in her home. Mrs. Folds was well known for her church activities and for many volunteer works in the community.
Mrs. Folds will be remembered by many for her work with the South Pittsburg Cornbread Festival, having donated countless loaves of her famous sourdough bread. A talented crocheter, she fashioned hundreds of caps for needy children and lap robes for veterans. For many years, she and her husband enjoyed working with the youth of their church, First Baptist Church in South Pittsburg. The couple enjoyed travel and visited many sites across the USA.
She is preceded by her husband William Wade Folds, her parents Joseph and Sammie Sparkman and her brother Joseph Sparkman Jr.
Mrs. Folds is survived by two sons Butch (C.A.) and Johnny (Penny), grandchildren Amanda Folds, Nathan Folds and Kegan Folds, as well as great grandchildren Hannah Stephens (Hunter), Caitlin Wise, Savanna Martin (Alex), Riley Folds, Mason Folds, Jaden Folds and Kolton Folds.
A graveside service will be held on Saturday, April 11 at 1 p.m. at Rocky Springs Cemetery, located at 1934 County Road 206 in Bridgeport, AL, with Pastor Roger Webb officiating.
There will be no public visitation at the funeral home.
In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the Marion County Community Ministries at 141 Alabama Ave, Jasper, Tennessee.
