On Monday, May 4 the MCHS Interact Club hosted a 3k fun run for MARC. People lined up to run, paying an entrance fee and/or donating to raise proceeds for the local organization. MARC, if you don’t know is the Marion Animal Resource Connection. They are a nonprofit organization that rescues and takes care of stray cats and dogs. They feed, water, as well as do spaying and neutering services for animals. The organization has been around since 2011 and helps into spreading advocacy for spaying and neutering, as well as also offer shelter for strays while waiting to get adopted.
The MCHS Interact Club and MARC have had a long running relationship, and this past year even more so. The MCHS has had multiple community service projects in involvement with MARC. They had a coin fundraiser going on for a bit, with each class having a separate bucket where money was to be dropped in. And the class to have the most money to donate to the organization received a VIP visit with some of the adoptable puppies. Another project was the MARC Angel Tree, where students were able to select an adoptable pet to make a goodie basket of food, trees, toys, etc. to donate for them.
Finally, the MCHS Interact Club did the MARC 3k Fun Run, where people ran to raise money for the nonprofit group and paid for their entry fee or donated money to the cause. Just in this event alone, the MCHS Interact Club has raised over $500 for MARC, not including the rest of their projects with various donations of money and items that were also held.
