Marion County High School students’ success in the Junior Machining Student Hammer Project was highlighted with the announcement of the winners.

After the County Wide Advisory Meeting, the Advisory Committee visited the Marion County Machine Shop to evaluate and judge the Junior Machining student Hammer Project for this year. The winners of the competition were announced, with Jeremiah Colvert securing the first place, followed by Hunter Forshee in second place, and Jacob Blevins in third place. A group photo was taken with the contestants, including Jacob Blevins, Jeremiah Colvert, Tucker Sims, Hunter Forshee, and Weston Stephens, standing from left to right.

Machining Instructor Larry Richards provided insights into the significance of the project, stating, “This is part of my dual enrollment class through Chattanooga State’s TCAT program. We use the hammer project as a skills test each year. At least two of these students will be selected next year to work at Mueller, in a paid position in the pre-apprenticeship program as seniors.”
