During the regular Marion County Commissioner board meeting, discussions focused on a proposed change in the courthouse restoration project, specifically regarding the project specifications and an increase in cost.

Mayor David Jackson presented Agenda Item 14, which sought approval for a change order related to the courthouse restoration. He explained that, as part of the original contract, the contractor was tasked with repairing the courthouse wall. The contractor had suggested adding a polyurethane coating to the wall, extending from the outside to the inside and covering the top, to provide added protection. Jackson noted that this would improve the appearance of the wall, especially where previous red marks and wear were visible before the application of the brown coating. Additionally, the change order included applying an epoxy coating to the handrails to prevent rust from damaging the concrete steps.

The proposed coating and epoxy work were estimated to cost $5,934.61, which Mayor Jackson described as a worthwhile investment to enhance both the appearance and durability of the courthouse. After discussing the proposal, the board unanimously approved the change order.
