The Marion County high school basketball squads both fell to Bledsoe County last Friday night. The boys lost 77-48, while the girls lost 59-53.

To start the evening, the Lady Warriors (1-6) started with a 22-point first half, with Milan Pemberton scoring nine points, going 3-4 at the foul line. She’d be the second-leading scorer with 13 total points behind Lawson Bradford with 16. That couldn’t match the Lady Warriors (1-6) in blue’s 25 first half points.

Bradford was a big part of the Lady Warriors 18-point fourth quarter, accounting for eight of the 18. Meanwhile, Jacy Gatlin (5), Laney Bradford (2) and Pemberton (3) would account for the rest.

The Warriors boys team (0-4) were led by Sam Pickett, Tilton Pickett and Brooks Gudger, who were the only three scorers in the first three quarters of play outside of Braydon Pickett’s two points in the first quarter, where the Warriors were only able to muster eight points.

The Warriors were outscored by Bledsoe (4-6) in every quarter, yet were able to increase their point total every quarter, however, going from eight in the first, 11 in the second, 13 in the third and 16 in the fourth.

Of the 48 points the Warriors accounted for, Sam Pickett scored 22, most notably making shots beyond the arc three times for nine points.

Tilton Pickett would finish with 10, Gudger nine, as Maddox Campbell, Braydon Pickett, Coy Haggard scored two apiece, with Aaden Gravitt scoring one.
