Maxine Lawson Malarkey, 78, of South Pittsburg, passed away on Tuesday, February 11, surrounded by her loved ones.
She leaves a legacy of love behind. Among her greatest achievements were her two daughters, two grandsons and five great grandchildren. She was a person of strong faith and prayer.
Maxine was born on February 14, 1946, in Jackson County, Alabama to her parents, the late Durell and Lovie Sargent. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husbands, Allen Lawson and Donovan Malarkey; son, Douglas Allen; brother, J.B. Sargent; sister, Jimmy Faye Dodson.
She leaves behind to cherish her memory two daughters; Jacquelyn Carter and Kellie Robinson; two grandsons, Alex (Sierra) Collier and Logan (Carey) Kirk; five great grandchildren, Landon Blevins, Asher Collier, Henry Blevins, Aniya Collier and Booker Collier; sister, Wendy Rains and Wanda (Butch) Hendershot; brother, Franky Sargent and a host of nephews, nieces and friends.
Funeral services will be held on Friday, February 14, at 1p.m. in the South Pittsburg Chapel of Rogers Funeral Home with Pastor Arland Weldon and Pastor Mike Graham officiating. Mrs. Maxine will be laid to rest with her husband, Allen Lawson, at Sequatchie Valley Memorial Gardens Cemetery in Jasper.
Visitation will be held on Thursday, February 13, from 5 p.m. to 8 p.m. and on Friday, February 14, from 11 a.m. to 1 p.m. prior to the funeral service in the chapel. Pallbearers will be Alex Collier, Logan Kirk, Jay Blevins, Travis Watson, Stacy Nail, and Ronald Wilkey.
Honorary pallbearers will be Landon Blevins, Asher Collier, Henry Blevins and Franky Sargent.
