Martha “Marilynne” Lovell Quick, 80

Martha “Marilynne” Lovell Quick, 80 of Jasper passed away peacefully with her family by her side on Tuesday, August 12.

A lifelong resident of Marion County, Marilynne graduated as Valedictorian of the Marion County High School Class of 1962. She went on to earn a Bachelor of Science degree in Psychology from the University of Tennessee in Chattanooga.

Marilynne had a deep love for life and service. In her early career, she worked as a stewardess for United Airlines, which fueled her passion for travel and adventure. Later, she dedicated many years working as a case worker for the Department of Children’s Services, where her compassion and commitment touched countless lives.

She was a faithful member of Ooltewah United Methodist Church in Ooltewah, Tennessee, and lived a life rooted in kindness, generosity, and service to others. Marilynne enjoyed gardening, quilting, and sharing time with her cherished family and friends. Her warmth, gentle spirit, and love for helping others will be deeply missed by all who knew her.

She was preceded in death by her parents Samuel Thurman Lovell Sr. and Martha Raines Daffon Lovell.

Survivors include her husband of two years Mr. Johnny Kirk Jr., son Tommy (Jamie) Quick, daughter Michelle Quick ( Gary) Bowen, grandchildren Emily (Ricky) Fehr, Tyler (Irina) Quick, Aubree (Jerry) Nunley and C.J. (Payton) Bowman, several great grandchildren, sister Mary Jo Bates, brother Samuel Lovell, as well as several nieces and nephews.

Funeral services were held on Friday, August 15 at 2 p.m. at the Jasper Chapel of Rogers Funeral Home, with her son Tommy Quick who officiated.

Marilynne was laid to rest at Pine Grove Cemetery in Jasper.

Visitation also took place on Friday, August 15 from 11 a.m. to 2 p.m. at the Jasper Chapel of Rogers Funeral Home prior to the funeral service.

Pallbearers were Buck Holland, John Nichols, Randy Graham, Ricky Fehr, Jerry Nunley and C.J. Bowman.
