The Marion County squads were swept by Tyner this past week, the girls falling 68-48 while the boys lost 81-34.

The girls were led in scoring by Milan Pemberton who had 20 on the night and led her team in scoring in the first period as she had eight of her points in the opening stanza. She was joined on the scoreboard in the first by Laney Bradford with 2 and Zaya Hill with a free throw as Hill scored 12 on the evening.

After scoring 11 in the first, the Lady Warriors could only must five in the second as Chrysia Timons had the only field goal for Marion County. Jacy Gatlin was two-for-two from the foul line while Pemberton was one-for-two from the charity stripe.

Faced with an uphill battle after a 16-point first half, the girls from Jasper tried to cut into the Tyner lead. Lawson Bradford hit one from beyond the arc in the second which was one of her 3-pointers on the evening. Pemberton added a field goal and a trio of foul shots to the third quarter tally while Hill hit a deuce.

While unable to chisel away at the lead in the third, the fourth was by far the best stanza for the Lady Warriors as Hill came to life with nine points, one of those from downtown. Bradford had the second of her 3-pointers while Pemberton knocked down a pair of field goals and was three-for-four from the stripe. Jacy Gatlin and Timons also hit deuces in the final period.

The second saw an improvement in the Warrior offense as they were able to get 13. Unfortunately, Tyner scored 25. Noah Gravitt as the hero for the Warriors in the second as he caught fire from downtown, canning two 3-pointers, a field goal and a pair of free throws. Sam Pickett added a long ball and a pair of free throws to the mix as Marion trailed 53-20 at the break.
