Various custodian staff members from across all Marion County schools have been recognized for their work and dedication to serving the local school system.

As the Board of Education’s annual meeting commenced, Mark Griffith, Director of Marion County Schools, presented various plaques recognizing custodians from across the county’s main schools. He felt it was worth regarding the staff’s tireless work throughout the school year, acknowledging how both during class and outside of it, all staff awarded devoted much effort and hard work into serving the school system across the board.

Diana Hammond, Tasha Womack, and Alex McDowell from Whitwell Elementary were the first to be recognized for their work with an honorary plaque. Their plaques were followed by staff from Whitwell Middle School, which consisted of Joey Lane, Madonna Thomas, and Gerald Bone. Principal Josh Holtcamp of Whitwell Middle was in attendance to represent the custodians who were awarded. Terry “Fuzz” Parker, Darrell Brown, and Charles Nunley of Whitwell High School were also recognized during the presentation.

Betty and Melissa Brown from Monteagle Elementary were also recognized during the meeting.

For Jasper, Charlie Ledford, Tammy Allison, Faye Calloway, as well as James Gholston were presented with a plaque dedicated to the town’s own elementary school. Both Jasper Middle School and Marion County High School followed suit; with Fred Nunley, Elley Morton and Brandon Harris for Jasper Middle and Kimberly Taylor, Trina Summers and Reba Graham for Marion County High.
