Manuel Pete Brooks, Sr., 73, of Jasper was called home to be with his Lord and Savior on Tuesday, Sept. 5, 2023.
Pete was born on December 16, 1949 to Dallas Russell Brooks and Ruby Ferguson Brooks. He was married to Glenda Holloway Brooks and a member of Jasper First Baptist Church. Pete worked as a Machinist for Norfolk Southern Railroad for thirty-three years. He was a member of the Masonic Lodge in Jasper. Pete loved horses, especially attending The Tennessee Walking Horse Celebration in Shelbyville, Tennessee, antique cars, enjoyed gardening, spending time with his family and entertaining his grandchildren. Pete was All Tristate, All SVC, and All District for Marion County High School Football. Pete attended Tennessee Tech in Cookeville.
Pete is preceded in death by his father, Dallas Russell Brooks and mother, Ruby Ferguson Brooks.
Left to cherish his memories are his wife, Glenda Holloway Brooks; sons, Pete (Jennifer) Brooks, Jr., Patrick (Janet) Brooks; daughter, Kasie (Jason) Saylors; brother, Dan (Freda) Brooks; sister, Diane (Bill) Payne; grandchildren, Micayla (Jake) Morgan, Blake (Alissa) Brooks, Jill Brooks; Owen Brooks, Reese and Reed Saylors; great grandchild, Aly Morgan; nieces and nephews, as well as other family members and special friends.
Visitation is Friday, Sept. 8 from 4 to 8 p.m. CST and on Saturday, Sept. 9 from 11 a.m. to 1 p.m. CST at Tate Funeral Home in Jasper. There will be a Masonic Ceremony presented by the Masonic Lodge of Jasper. Funeral services are on Saturday, Sept. 9 at 1 p.m. CST in the Chapel of Tate Funeral Home with Pastor Greg Steele officiating. The burial will be at Sequatchie Valley Memorial Gardens on Saturday, September 9, 2023, immediately following the funeral service.
Pallbearers are Blake Brooks, Daniel Brooks, Lebron Ferguson, Kevin Ferguson, Michael Matthews and Danny Fox. Honorary pallbearers are Owen Brooks and Reed Saylors.
