Sexual battery charges have been lodged against a man at an assisted living facility who was allegedly caught inappropriately touching a fellow female resident.
The suspect, Andra Blackmon, 66, is charged with sexual battery and elder abuse and faces a Nov. 1 hearing date in General Sessions Court.
According to arrest warrants against Blackmon, the incidents were observed by a nurse at Valley View Assisted Living where both the alleged perpetrator and victim reside.
“At approximately 430 hours, Andra Blackmon was observed grabbing (the victim) who has moderate onset of Alzheimer’s,” the warrant reads, detailing the alleged assault. “He was seen grabbing (the victim) multiple times and she was seen tapping Blackmon’s hand as if telling him ‘No.’”
Prosecutors say the assault continued for about 15 minutes before a nurse took the victim to the nurse’s station.
The investigating officer said he went to the facility to talk to Blackmon. “He acted like he had no idea what I was speaking about,” the officer noted.
The officer pointed out that in his opinion, Blackmon is competent but the victim was not due to Alzheimer’s.
