A Tracy City man has been arrested after an investigation into the “intentional abuse and torture” of three dogs shot to death by their owner.

Jeffrey Andrew White, 29, is accused of three counts of aggravated cruelty to animals. He was arrested on Oct. 21 by Tracy City Police Department and was booked into Grundy County Sheriff’s Department.

“We received complaints that Mr. White walked out of his house and shot and killed all three of his dogs,” said Tracy City Police Chief Charlie Wilder. “We conducted a thorough investigation, which included interviewing Mr. White, prior to making the arrest.”

The department’s incident report cites the criminal activity as “intentional abuse and torture” and lists five witnesses. However, it does not provide any details regarding what they say allegedly occurred.

“The case is ongoing, so I’m limited as to what I can release to the public,” said Wilder. “I can tell you that the dogs were in a pen. It was allege that he just walked up and shot them. We have no complaint history on the dogs.”

Located in the home were 13 firearms, which Wilder says White willingly surrendered to law enforcement.

White will have his first court appearance on Nov. 14 at 9 a.m. Arraignment will be before Judge William R. Anderson, III.
