Lewis J. Holloway, Jr. 91, of Jasper, Tennessee was called home to be with his Lord and Savior on Tuesday, March 4. On September 30, 1933, Lewis was born to the late Lewis J. Holloway, Sr. and Mary Webb Holloway. He worked for Container Corporation of America before retiring. Lewis was married to Virginia Garner Holloway before her death and attended Mountain View Baptist Church. He was a Baptist Minister for 50 plus years going as far away as Baring Maine to pastor a church as home missionaries with the Southern Baptist Association as well as pastoring several local churches. Lewis was a 60-year-plus member of Hill City Masonic Lodge # 603 in Chattanooga, Tennessee. He was the oldest living Past Master of Hill City Lodge. Lewis was also a member of Chattanooga York Rites and the Chattanooga Valley of the Scottish Rites. In his younger years, Lewis loved to hunt and fish. In his later years he loved genealogy. He and Virginia traveled all over the country researching his family tree resulting in the compilation of the “Holloway Family Tree Book”.
Lewis is preceded in death by his wife of 70 years, Virginia; parents, Lewis and Mary; brothers, Crit Holloway, Sherrill Holloway; sisters, Mildred Saylor, Helen Lewis and grandson-in-law, Charlie Farrow.
Left to cherish his memories are his son, Don (Gail) Holloway; daughters, Margaret (Earl) Keeler, Martha (Jackie) Dishman; grandchildren, Christy Farrow, James (Ashley) Keeler, Stephanie (Andrew) Carter, Aaron (Crystal) Dishman, Robert Holloway, Derek (JoAnn) Holloway, Tiffany (Matt) Broom; 16 great grandchildren; several nieces, nephews, other family members and special friends.
Visitation is Friday, March 7, from 4 p.m. to 8 p.m. and on Saturday, March 8, from Noon to 2 p.m. at Tate Funeral Home in Jasper.
Funeral services are on Saturday, March 8, at 2 p.m. in the Chapel of Tate Funeral Home, in Jasper with Pastor Chris Kilgore officiating.
There will be a Masonic Service on Friday, March 7, at 7:45 p.m.
Lewis will be laid to rest on Saturday, March 8, at Pine Grove Cemetery in Jasper immediately following the funeral service.
Pallbearers are James Keeler, Ethan Farrow, Aaron Dishman, Robert Holloway, Derek Holloway and Matt Broom.
