Leland Dale Dodson, 68, of Jasper, gained his wings on Monday, December 23. On January 1, 1956, Leland was born to the late Lankford Dodson and Willie Sue Nunley Dodson. He was a graduate of Marion County High School, Class of 1974. Leland’s career was in law enforcement, working as a Police Officer for South Pittsburg Police Department and the Marion County Sheriff’s Department. He enjoyed spending time with his family and loved all his grandchildren.
Leland is preceded in death by his parents and brother, David Dodson.
Left to cherish his memories are his son, Dustin (Monica) Dodson; stepson, Zachery (Beth) Crawford; brother, Freddie (Nita) Dodson; sisters, Linda Dodson, Wanda (Marty) Deakins, Jannie Stanfield, Joey (Lester) Roberts; six grandchildren, several nieces, nephews, other family members and special friends.
The family will hold a visitation on Friday, December 27, from 11 a.m. to 2:30 p.m. at Tate Funeral Home in Jasper. Funeral services will begin at 2:30 p.m. in the Chapel of Tate Funeral Home in Jasper with Pastor Robert D. Caudill and Pastor Roy Cheaves officiating.
Leland will be laid to rest at Red Hill Cemetery in Whitwell immediately following the funeral service.
The pallbearers are Daniel Dodson, Derick Dodson, Jamie Ayers, Jason Nugent, Michael Lewis and Cain Battles. Honorary pallbearers are the South Pittsburg Police Department and Marion County Sheriff’s Office.
