Larry J. “Tom Cat” Shavers, 73, of South Pittsburg, was called home on January 26. On July 11, 1951, he was born to the late Jack Shavers and Alice Smith Shavers. Larry retired from O’Neal Color and was married to Carolyn Shavers. He was a member of the South Pittsburg Church of the Nazarene. He loved playing softball, horseshoes, playing darts, old cars and was a very hard worker. Larry enjoyed old movies and yard work. Most of all he loved his family and grandchildren and spending time with them.
Larry is preceded in death by his parents; sons, Jason Dempsey, Les Ramsey; brother, Donald Ray Shavers; and sister, Janet Shavers.
Left to cherish his memories are his wife, Carolyn Stevens Shavers, son, Eric (Brandi) Ramsey; daughter, Sherry (Leroy) Griffith; brother, Jack (April) Shavers, Jr.; sisters, Debbie (Kelsey) Hollis, Rebecca (Gary) Higginbotham; 9 grandchildren; 12 great grandchildren; several nieces, nephews, other family members, and special friends.
Visitation is on Tuesday, January 28, 2025, from 3 p.m. to 7 p.m. and on Wednesday, January 29, from 11 a.m. to 1 p.m. at Tate Funeral Home in Jasper.
Funeral services are on Wednesday, January 29, in the Chapel of Tate Funeral Home in Jasper, with Pastor Chris Gudger and Pastor Tony Tuders officiating.
Burial will be on Wednesday, January 29, at Sequatchie Valley Memorial Gardens in Jasper immediately following the funeral service.
Pallbearers are Eric Ramsey, Trace Ramsey, Michael Wehunt, Bubba Ramsey, Logan Ramsey, Jake Davis with honorary pallbearers, April Davis and Magen Langston.
