The Marion County Chamber of Commerce at their annual banquet dinner on August 17, awarded Colonial Chemical Inc. (CCI) the Large Business of the Year award.
Founded in 1970, the chemical manufacturer is located in New Hope on a 37 acres lot. The worldwide manufacturer of surfactants and other chemical solutions supplies more than 450 corporations with items for personal care, household, and industrial purposes. CCI is the leading manufacturer in the chemical industry, producing 95% of their marketed products through global independent sales representatives and distributors. They specialize in environmentally friendly products made from natural and renewable ingredients. These products serve as essential building block ingredients for various applications, including lotions, soaps, cleaners, shampoos, conditioners, air fresheners, metal cleaners, and carpet cleaners.
The winner of the 2021 EPA Green Chemistry Challenge Awards Program in the Design of Greener Chemicals, is actively engaged and visible within the community, participating in various outreach efforts. Their efforts include actively contributing as a member of the County Chamber of Commerce, hosting an annual county-wide shredding day, sponsoring the 2023 Chamber of Commerce golf tournament, and donating multiple barrels filled with canned foods to the Marion County Food Bank in Sequatchie during the holiday season. 67 employees volunteered more than 500 hours in the past year. Their team officially adopted a segment of Highway 156 in New Hope and conducts quarterly clean-up activities for that designated area.
CCI is integrally involved in the youth of the community financially sponsoring the team promotions for several activities including football, baseball, basketball, and cheerleading squads for South Pittsburg, Whitwell, and Marion County High Schools. They invest in the local high school science departments donating materials and providing the Marion County 4-H club visits to their plants.
For their dedication and hard work for not only Marion County but the future generations of the world, Colonial Chemical Inc. was presented the Large Business of the Year award.
