The city of Kimball has agreed to help host this year’s Heartland Anglers Fishing Championship by donating $2,000 into helping support the upcoming tournament taking place on Guntersville Lake in Alabama.
Within the town’s meeting held Thursday, March 5, the Board of Mayor & Aldermen (BoMA) gave the thumbs up to host the event alongside South Pittsburg and the countywide government. According to Kimball Mayor Rex Pesnell, the board was approached by South Pittsburg’s council into hosting the event alongside the city and the county. He stated the county will provide $2,000 in support of the championship, while South Pittsburg will provide $1,000. He also mentioned South Pittsburg would be in charge of both preparations and cleanup for the tournament.
The upcoming Heartland Anglers Fishing Championship is a major bass fishing tournament hosted every year by the Heartland Anglers organization, a team tournament program that operates across six states in the Southeast. The event is to take place April 17 and 18, while the county’s 29th Annual National Cornbread Festival is scheduled to kick-0ff in downtown South Pittsburg the following weekend, adding itself as another major event for county residents to experience within the month.
All members of Kimball’s BoMA agreed to help host and support the upcoming event, the city becoming another major supporter for the upcoming tournament at Guntersville Lake.
