Marion County attorney William Gouger gave an update on Kimball’s ongoing cell tower project during the community’s recent city meeting.

During the January meeting, Gouger explained following the announcement of the cell tower project at the December meeting, he emailed Chris Day of Gen 7 Engineering for updates about the tower since the last meeting.

Per Gouger, Day replied with plans to render the tower’s design within the Timber Ridge subdivision, in addition to finding out if the cell tower could potentially be attached to the water tower already in place at Timber Ridge Drive.

When asked by City Mayor Rex Pesnell if contact with any of the property owners were made, Gouger explained a large majority of the lots owned are under one developer: John C Thornton of Thornton Development Inc, who oversees a majority of the land restrictions for each piece of land owned.

“That one property owner, because of the way the restrictions were written, could have the authority to approve the bearings,” said Gouger. “But Day was going to approach him about that.”

Following this, it was ultimately decided that Gouger would reach out to Day once again to check up on progress with the project on behalf of Kimball’s city council, ensuring the project remains on schedule to potentially resolve the community’s current issues with cell service reception.
