Ordinances 298 and 299, first discussed and approved in November, have both been given the greenlight to move forward by the Board of Mayor & Aldermen in Kimball.

Ordinances 298 and 299 were previously discussed during Kimball’s November city meeting. There, both were described pertaining changes and additions to existing city regulations regarding mobile homes and Accessory Dwelling Units (ADU).

Ordinance 298 requires that any new mobile home parks being introduced into the community will need to abide by zoning and land regulations permitted by the city. All mobile parks previously established prior to the ordinance are left unaffected by the regulations in place.

Ordinance 299, meanwhile, pertains allowing ADU dwellings to be built on preexisting homes, as original town code did not allow ADU units within the community. While ADUs are permitted, other structures such as tiny homes are not allowed on sites with already existing homes. Additionally, ADUs up to 700 square feet are permitted within Kimball.

During this month’s meeting, both ordinances were examined for their second and final reading, allowing for a public hearing on both items prior to its vote. Once voting commenced, Vice Mayor Jerry Don Case made his motion to approve and enact the ordinances, his vote receiving support from the other board members.

With the second and final readings of Ordinances 298 and 299 now passed, the new changes and additions introduced have since been enacted under Kimball law.
