Julia Faye Steele, 79 passed away peacefully on Sunday, May 4 at her home surrounded by the love and comfort of her family and close friends.
A devoted Southern Baptist, she was a member of Mt. Carmel Missionary Baptist Church for 37 years. Faye lived a life of compassion and unwavering faith. Her warm spirit and beautiful smile touched everyone who knew her.
Faye was preceded in death by her husband John “Fuzzy” Steele, parents Daniel and Mattie Rich and Polly Gass, as well as brothers Jackie, Bobby, George and Cecil Rich.
She is survived by her children Kim (Ryan) Phillips of Jasper and Keith (Alesha) Steele of New Hope, five grandchildren Keyle and Josh Henderson, Savannah Phillips, Trent Phillips and Brooklyn Steele, two brothers Ray (Sharon) Rich and Ronnie (Renae) Rich, as well as sisters in laws Susie Belk, Ann Rich and Sarah Jackson.
Faye was known for her beautiful salt and pepper hair, her comforting presence and love of southern cooking, which brought joy to countless gatherings as well as for those who were sick.
The funeral service was held on Wednesday, May 7 at 1 p.m. in the South Pittsburg Chapel of Rogers Funeral Home, with Pastor Greg Steele who officiated.
Mrs. Steele was laid to rest with her beloved husband John Steele at Sequatchie Valley Memorial Gardens Cemetery in Jasper.
Visitation was held on both Tuesday, May 6 from 4 p.m. to 7 p.m. and on Wednesday, May 7 from 11 a.m. to 1 p.m. prior to the funeral service at the South Pittsburg Chapel.
Pallbearers were Keith Steele, Mike Rich, Rowdy Rich, Buddy Rich, Brandon Cooper and Trent Phillips.
