Johnny E. Smith, 74 of Jasper was called home on Sunday, June 1. On December 30, 1950, he was born to the late Enoch Smith and Hattie Layne Smith in Jasper. Johnny married Charlotte Walker Smith and worked for Lodge Manufacturing for 24 years. He liked to fish, enjoyed working on cars, doing carpenter work and watching westerns. Most of all he loved spending time with his family.
Johnny is preceded in death by his father Enoch Smith, mother Hattie Layne Smith, brothers James Pilgrim, Bill Pilgrim, Albert Pilgrim, Junior Pilgrim and Pat Smith, as well as sisters Evelyn Peacock and Ann Smith.
Left to cherish his memories are his wife Charlotte Walker Smith, son Eric Smith, daughter Amy (Ronnie) Ragan, brother Ted (Sue) Smith, grandchildren Jacob Avans, Briana Smith, Peyton Ragan and Tyler Ragan, great grandchild Ellie Marie Tifton, several nieces, nephews, other family members and special friends.
Visitation was on Wednesday, June 4 from 12 p.m. to 2 p.m. at Tate Funeral Home in Jasper.
A graveside service was held on Wednesday, June 4 at 2 p.m. at Havron’s Chapel Cemetery in Jasper, with Pastor Wayne Smith who officiated.
Pallbearers were Tyler Ragan, Peyton Ragan, Jacob Avans, Jacob Holland, Jason Smith and Timmy Cluck.
Funeral arrangements were entrusted to Tate Funeral Home, LLC, 950 Mel Dixon Lane, Jasper, Tennessee 37347, 423-942-9500.
