John “Wayne” Willis, 80

John “Wayne” Willis, 80, (First E-8 sergeant) of South Pittsburg, TN, passed peacefully on Monday, October 16, 2023 with his loving family by his side.

Wayne served in the United States Army and retired from the Alabama National Guard. He retired from Northeast Community College as the physical plant manager.  Also, he worked for Penn-Drive Cement plant, was a former Marion County Deputy Sheriff and served several terms as a South Pittsburg City Commissioner and a County Commissioner.

He was preceded in death by his wife Linda Willis, parents, Carl, and Stella Willis; brothers, Mack Morris, George Willis and Benny Willis.

Survivors include his daughter, Carla (Gary) Gullatt; son, Scott (Michelle) Willis; special friend, Cindy Collins; grandchildren, Kyle (Brianna) Gullatt, Leslie Gullatt (Evan Gregerson) and Jordan Willis; three great grandchildren, Greyson, Grace and Audery Gullatt; several nieces, nephews and friends.

Funeral services will be held on Thursday, October 19, 2023 at 12:00 p.m. (CDT) in the South Pittsburg chapel with Pastor Bill Stuart officiating.

Mr. Willis will be laid to rest at Cumberland View Cemetery in Kimball, TN.

Visitation will be held on Wednesday, October 18, 2023 from 4:00 to 7:00 p.m. (CDT) and on Thursday, October 19, 2023 from 10:30 a.m. to 12:00 p.m. (CDT) prior to the funeral service in the chapel.

A Masonic Service will be conducted in the chapel service.

Pallbearers will be Brandon Price, Dickie Crabtree, Donald Blansett, Gary Gullatt, Kyle Gullatt and Jordan Willis.
