Jerry Lee “Cooter” Chandler, 68, of Guild was called home to be with his Lord and Savior on Friday, November 8. On March 19, 1956, he was born to the late Harvey Chandler and Frances Starnes Chandler. He was married to Janet Owens Chandler. Cooter was a retired Machinist for Alloway Stamping Machine and was a Volunteer Fireman for Haletown. He was a member of Guild First Baptist Church. Cooter loved to fish and spend time with his family, friends and church family. He loved Alabama football “Roll Tide”.
Cooter is preceded in death by his parents; brothers, William Chandler, James Berry; sisters, JoAnn Westbrook and Sharon Chandler.
Left to cherish his memories are his wife, Janet Owens Chandler; son, Ronnie (Tisa) Chandler; brothers, Kenneth Chandler, Tommy (Jennifer) Chandler; sister, Margaret Harold; grandchildren, Joseph Gibson & Hali Griffith, Ashley Gibson & JeShawn Miller, Shelley Gibson & Jeremy West, Kayla Chandler; great grandchildren, Jaxon, Jastyn & Avah Miller, Hazel Ann Gibson, Rowen West, several nieces, nephews, other family members and special friends.
Visitation was Tuesday, November 12, from 3 p.m. to 7 p.m. (4 p.m. to 8 p.m. ET) and on Wednesday, November 13, from 10 a.m. to Noon (11 a.m. to 1 p.m. ET) at Tate Funeral Home in Jasper.
Funeral services were on Wednesday, November 13, a Noon (1 p.m. ET) in the Chapel of Tate Funeral Home in Jasper with Pastor Don Smith and Pastor Gerald Ellis officiating.
Cooter will be laid to rest on Wednesday, November 13, at Forest Hills Cemetery in St. Elmo in Hamilton County, Tennessee immediately following the funeral service.
Pallbearers were Joseph Gibson, Steve Owens, Brannon Owens, Donny Boyd, Tim Huff and Felton Rimas.
