Jasper’s Halloween Market brings spooky fun to the town. The market brings trick-or-treating, snacks, and other activities for the whole family to enjoy. It was held at the square in Jasper last Saturday on October 4. The event lasted from 3 p.m. to 7 p.m., with it providing a fun way to excite the community for Halloween.

Over 50 vendors were there, all offering something different to enjoy. There were many food vendors, including those who offered many desserts and candies. For desserts, there was the M&M’s Creations vendor selling s’mores and s’more-related items, Gigi’s sugar cookies, Sunny Day Cupcakes, Pancake & Co., and many others. There were plenty of other options, such as a steaming bowl of chili, Grains and Grace Sourdough, Revival Coffee Co.’s acai bowls, and many more for people to enjoy.

There were also many things to purchase, ranging from decor to handmade jewelry. Visitors were given a large selection of items offered by local small businesses. Quiet Oak Farmhouse was selling homemade crochet toys, blankets, and other crafted goods. Jasper Joe’s was selling apparel and gifts with their large variety of wares. Additional vendors such as Solomon’s Workshop were getting into the spooky spirit with their homemade Halloween decor.

Kids were recommended to dress up because every vendor was giving out candy for trick-or-treating. There was also face painting and tattoos provided by Ms. Marilyn for kids to enjoy.

Monica Barbee, the event coordinator, explained the goal of the event was “To bring the community together for family fun to enjoy.” Despite the love of the market, Barbee wishes they had more farmers there. It has been recommended quite frequently to have more fresh produce at the market. Despite this, the event helped kick-off October and get people excited for the upcoming spooky holiday of Halloween.
