After much discussion and anticipation, Jasper’s Board of Mayor & Aldermen have officially approved a contracted bid for the new public pavilion. This is set to be built in Jasper City Park.

During this month’s public meeting, the board unanimously accepted a $1,631,200 bid submitted by OLG Services, a full-service construction firm from Tullahoma. City Mayor Jason Turner explained that the bid is approved under Resolution 20251013. The resolution not only accepts OLG’s bid but also allows for additional funds to be allocated by the city.

The project was first discussed back in February, as bidding was first mentioned during the town’s city meeting. Mayor Turner at the time explained how the project has been in the works since 2024. The city at the time was rewarded CDBG grant funds for the project, funds that will be used to support the pavilion’s development.

The facility is set to be an all-purpose structure for the public to use, including a concession stand, restrooms and a set of rollout doors. Mayor Turner noted the facility can be used year round and will feature heating and air. It will also be 50 feet in width and have a seating capacity near 250. It is to be built near the tennis courts at the site of the Jasper Jaycee’s original office space. Contracted build time is estimated to be 333 days.

Since the board’s recent approval, work on the pavilion has officially begun and is now currently in progress.
