This street scene from Jasper dates from the mid to the late 1940s. We figured out the date from the “Dewey for President” sign on the telephone pole on the right. Dewey ran in both the 1944 and 1948 elections. The horse-drawn wagon at center right, is most likely Buck Tanner’s, who resided at the poorhouse on the East Valley Road.
