Janice Bowman, 81, of Whitwell, was called home to be with her Lord and Savior on January 30. On June 16, 1943, she was born to the late Dennis Graham Gholston and Myrtle Irene Fulfer. Janice was married to Robert Leon Bowman, Jr. for 64 years. She was a member of Sequatchie First Baptist Church and attended Kimball Tabernacle of Praise.
Janice collected cookbooks and enjoyed cooking for the family and also going out to eat. She loved and enjoyed spending time with her family and grandchildren. She was a dog breeder for many years, raising Yorkies, poodles and chihuahuas and loved meeting people.
Janice is preceded in death by her parents; brothers, Ed Gholston, and John Gholston.
Left to cherish her memories are her husband, Robert Leon Bowman, Jr.; son, Wayne (Bonnie) Bowman; daughter, Sissy (Kenny) Webb; grandchildren, Hannah (Adam) Turner, Bailey (Jake) Gann, Peyton (Jared) Sheets; 8 great grandchildren; special great niece, Brittany Gholston; several nieces, nephews, other family members and special friends.
Visitation is on Sunday, February 2, from Noon to 2 p.m. at Tate Funeral Home in Jasper.
Funeral services are on Sunday, February 2, at 2 p.m. with Pastor Wayne Bowman officiating. Burial will be on Sunday, February 2, at Sequatchie Valley Memorial Gardens immediately following the funeral service.
Pallbearers are Bristol McGill, Josh King, Jared Sheets, Jake Gann, Kenny Gholston, and Chris Bowman.
