James “JJ” Jackson, Jr., 69

James “JJ” Jackson, Jr., 69, of South Pittsburg, passed away peacefully at his home on Friday, March 22, with his beloved wife Annie Jane by his side.

JJ was born in Chicago, IL, in 1954 to his late parents, James and Bridie Jackson. He grew up on the West side of Chicago before moving to South Pittsburg. JJ received his high school diploma at Continental Academy. He retired from Johnson Construction Union 846 as a maintenance Groundskeeper. JJ’s contagious smile and humorous personality attracted many around him. He enjoyed watching TN Football, hunting, fishing, and spending time with his family.  He loved his family very much and they loved him.

JJ is preceded in death by his beloved parents, brother, Larry Jackson, and best friend Toe Simms. Cherishing the love and laughter he shared with them; his wife, Annie Jane Jackson of 27 years; sons,

Todd Jackson (Jasper) and Mario Collins (Texas); daughters, Monique Armstrong (Minnesota), Shameka Jackson (Chicago), and Demorya Whisnant (South Pittsburg); siblings, Lorraine (James) Love (Mesa, AZ), Darrin (Tonya) Jackson (Georgia), Sheba (Kimbal) Oliver (Chicago), Jerry (Lisa) Jackson (Chicago) and Theodore Simons (Chicago); a host of grandchildren, nieces and nephews, great-nieces, great-nephews, great grandchildren and friends; special friends until the end, Monty Ridge and David Earvin. He will be missed by his family and friends.

Funeral services will be held on Wednesday, April 3, at 1 p.m. in the South Pittsburg Funeral Home Chapel of Rogers Funeral Home with Pastor Darrin Jackson officiating. JJ will be laid to rest at the Cumberland View Cemetery in Kimball, TN. Visitation will be held on Wednesday, April 3, from 11 a.m. to 1 p.m. prior to the funeral service in the chapel of the South Pittsburg Chapel. The pallbearers will be Bristian Baker, Fredrick Branford, Johnathan Jackson, Eric Harris, Deandre Jackson, Dave Barrow, Jerry Jackson, Stefan Cunningham, and Ron Cook. Honorary Pallbearers will be Lee Slaughter, Randall Walker, Derrick Harris, and Eddie Tipton. Arrangements are entrusted to Rogers Funeral Home, 400 Laurel Ave, South Pittsburg, (423) 837-7176.
