
Iris Ann Lehr Sumler, 87 of South Pittsburg passed away peacefully on Saturday, January 10 in Chattanooga, Tennessee.
She was born on March 16, 1938 to the late John Franklin and Lillian Opal Lehr of South Pittsburg.
In her early 20’s, she moved to Arlington, Virginia where she worked for the Department of Defense and raised her family. When she retired, she returned to South Pittsburg to enjoy the slower pace and have time for her love of gardening, quilting, sewing, and her fascination with and studying of history.
She was preceded in death by her sons Christopher Scott and Michael Thomas, as well as sisters Janet Webb, Barbara Nell Lehr and Elaine Beene.
Survivors include her brother Allan Lehr of Signal Mountain, Tennessee, sister Sherry Jones of Lebanon, Tennessee, son William (Bill) Lehr of South Pittsburg, daughter Deanna (Van) Kleyla of Painter, Virginia, as well as grandchildren Samantha Coleman and Maximilian Kleyla.
The family will have a private service at a later date.
