Assisting Hands Home Care, a medical service provider for those in need of home-based medical care, is also a major provider for local veterans who reside in Marion County. Having several locations across much of Eastern and Middle Tennessee, Assisting Hands Home Care is a growing service provider for those in need of assistance for day-to-day activities, such as meal preps, getting dressed, bathing, as well as other sources of personal care. Derek Flintz, owner of Assisting Hands Home Care’s office in Jasper, provided more detail into what the organization provides for their clients. Especially for those who have served our nation.
“So we have care givers that we employ that go into our client’s homes to help them out with their EDLs, their activities and daily living.” explained Flintz. He also noted on how the program has also partnered with and has a contract with VA(Veterans Affairs), which they help pay for the medical services of the veterans within a given set of hours, ranging from six hours all the way to 24 hours of each given week.
“We also have a contract with the VA. So they would help pay for certain amount of hours per week for the veterans. And it doesn’t come out of their pocket. The government is paying for our services to help them.” explained Derek. He, alongside his wife Angela are both the owners of Marion County’s agency, with them originally having a location in Illinois. During their time in Illinois, they had served 500 veterans within a span of over 10 years, providing their clients with their needs there as they do now here in the Sequatchie Valley Region.
“We originally have an office up in Illinois for 10 years. And we’ve serviced probably close to about 500 veterans over the 10 years up there.” said Derek. His and Angela’s main purpose of coming to the area is, like from their previous office is to provide a helping hand to those in need of it, including those who have served our nation. And for both Derek and Angela, helping veterans is a prime example of the organization’s main message of giving back and helping others.
“We have had the honor of doing home care for 11 years. And in that time, we have discovered that the ones that gave us so much for our freedom have so little for themselves. So we have made it our mission in these past 11 years to make sure we take care of those that gave so much for their community.” said Angela. Currently, Assisting Hands Home Care is serving 10 veterans that are registered for their medical services within Marion County. Both Derek and Angela, as well as all who work under their agency are looking to further expand in both the amount of offices in Tennessee, as well as in recognition for those needing help for their day-to-day needs. Their office is located on Main Street in suite 201 in Jasper, and their number is 423-269-2608 for anyone looking for a local provider.
