Historic Preservation Society’s presentation of Hyatt

To commemorate Black History Month, the South Pittsburg Historic Preservation Society will host a program on February 6 and will focus on the life of William Augustus “Gus” Hyatt (1900-1988).

The session will be held at 6 p.m. in the Community Room of the Sequatchie Valley Electric Cooperative, where speaker David Head will delve into the notable figure from South Pittsburg. From Hyatt’s remarkable career starting at the age of 14, when he began working to eventually becoming a master molder and pattern maker at Lodge Cast Iron.
