Henry Luther “Luke” Nelson, 87

Henry Luther “Luke” Nelson, 87, passed away on Friday, December 15, at his home in the Battlecreek Community of South Pittsburg.
He was a man who loved his family dearly. Luke was a proud United States Navy Veteran. He retired from T.U. Parkes Construction Company and was a longtime member of the United Brotherhood of Carpenters & Joiners of America Local Union 74. He was a master craftsman that could build anything out of wood, including his own boat, and was also a talented artist who painted extensively, making the frames for his paintings.
Luke was preceded in death by his parents, Isaac Dennis, and Pearl Nichols Nelson; granddaughters, Molly Katherine Nelson and Lilly Suesann Nelson; one sister, Anna Laura Wilson; brothers, Alvin Nelson, J.L. Nelson, Bill Nelson, Charles Nelson, George Nelson, Tommy Nelson, and Sam Nelson.
He is survived by his sister, Jenny Goodner; five sons, Bart (Sherry) Nelson, Jeffery (Tamari) Nelson, Jonathan (Kerri) Nelson, Jay (Tarissa) Nelson, Patrick (Maranda) Nelson; grandchildren, Emily (Jeremy) Hulvey, Shannon (Brian) Vallery, Amanda (Jason) Roscoe, Dylan (Jamie) Nelson, Abby Nelson (Buck Akers), Grace (Adam) Ambrosetti, Eliza (Andrew) Kilgore, Kellsey Nelson, and Lucas Nelson and several great grandchildren.
Funeral services will be held on Wednesday, December 20, at 1 p.m. in the chapel of Rogers Funeral Home in South Pittsburg with Rev. Jeffery Nelson and Rev. Patrick Nelson officiating.
Interment will follow at Gilliam Cemetery in the Battlecreek community.
A visitation will be held on Wednesday, December 20, from 11 a.m. to 1 p.m. at the funeral home prior to the funeral service in the chapel.
The pallbearers will be his five sons, Bart, Jeffery, Jonathan, Jay and Patrick Nelson and grandson, Lucas Nelson.
