A head on collision occurred on Highway 41 during the afternoon hours of Saturday, Dec. 27.

According to Chase Bryant of Chase Bryant Weather, the scene occurred between Haletown and the location of the former Catfish House Restaurant by the highway. Bryant urged all residents at the time to utilize an alternative route if heading to or from nearby Chattanooga.

At the time of the incident, 10 firemen from the Haletown Volunteer Fire Department (HVFD) responded to the scene, where they discovered two individuals trapped inside one of the damaged vehicles. All firemen were immediate to conduct extrication efforts to safely assist the victims from inside the vehicle. The two victims of the incident were then immediately transported for medical attention.

According to a post made by HFVD regarding the incident, the driver of the second vehicle received only minor injuries, as all emergency personnel at the scene successfully removed both vehicles from the highway. The highway was then cleared and opened for all oncoming traffic heading to and from the area.
