Hattie B’s, a well-regarded chain restaurant out of Nashville, is in the works of potentially opening a new location in nearby Chattanooga.
One of Music City’s most popular establishments, Hattie B’s is known for its Nashville hot chicken and the different spice levels customers can choose from. The family-owned establishment is also known for its side dishes served with each meal, including pimento mac and cheese and potato salad. The business first opened in August 2012 right in the heart of Broadway, quickly becoming a favorite with residents and tourists. Today, the restaurant has 13 locations in five different states across the U.S., and the business is looking ahead to open additional locations in late 2025 to 2026.
Amy Corley, company spokesperson of Hattie B’s, explained in an email the company’s interests in opening a location in Gig City. She stated due to Chattanooga’s ever evolving food scene, the company is actively looking to potentially open a location within the city as part of the company’s ongoing plans of expanding into new areas.
One specific location in Chattanooga, the Signal Knitting Mill building, has been speculated to be a potential candidate for a Hattie B’s location. The Signal Knitting Mill is located in Northshore on 205 Manufacturers Road and is used as a major retail space for different shops and restaurants. An empty space within the facility once occupied by the Food Works restaurant is looked at as the possible sight for Hattie B’s. However, the space is currently not listed on the market for lease.
Hattie B’s continues to show key interest in the Chattanooga area. If done, the location would serve as the first of its kind in Eastern Tennessee, opening the restaurant’s famed dishes to the region.
