
Harold Edward Janeway, of South Pittsburg passed away peacefully on Friday, January 16 surrounded by his loving family.
He was a cherished husband, father, grandfather and friend, known for his deep faith and devotion to his family.
Born in Bridgeport, AL to Rex and Elizabeth Janeway on March 18, 1949, Harold lived a life defined by his values and passions. Through the years, some of his hobbies included fishing, camping, coaching, playing the harmonica, and cheering on the Crimson Tide every Saturday with family and friends. He served in the United States Army from 1969 to 1971. He retired from the United States Postal Service after 23 years where he was known as the “mailman”. Outside of work, Harold’s greatest joys were found in his faith and family. He was a member of Calvary Baptist Church in South Pittsburg.
Harold is survived by his two sons Brian Janeway and Josh (Jamie) Janeway, grandchildren Kaylea Grace Henson and Joshua Cole Janeway, sisters Clara Hodge, Sandra Ellis and Edna Rodgers, as well as several nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by his beloved wife Sheila Kay Davis Janeway, brother Carl Janeway and sister Beatrice Crawford.
A funeral service was held at Roger’s Funeral Home Chapel in South Pittsburg, on Tuesday, January 20 at 2:00 p.m., with Pastor Ronnie Case who officiated.
The family received friends on Tuesday, January 20 from 12 p.m. to 2 p.m. in the South Pittsburg Chapel prior to funeral service being held.
Mr. Janeway was laid to rest with his beloved wife Sheila Janeway at Tate Cemetery in South Pittsburg.
“Roll Tide” forever, Harold. You will be deeply missed and forever in our hearts.
Pallbearers were Buddy Jacobs, Terry (Mater) Tanner, Fredrick Branford, Jason Lawhorn, Michael Peden and Eric Love.
