Gregory Jerome Mobley, 77, of South Pittsburg, TN ascended into heaven on Monday, November 20. Greg was a proud alumni of McReynolds High School, class of 1964. Greg, aka “Tricks”, used his speed and skill as a great representation of how powerful the “Dragons” were in athletics. As a wide receiver, he assisted in winning the Region 1 Southeast Conference Championship.
Greg was in the United States Army and served in the Vietnam War. He then worked for the Federal Government for many years as a computer programmer in Washington D.C. Greg later returned to Tennessee where he became a Behavior Tech at a local community center.
Greg had numerous hobbies and interests such as watching football, basketball, baseball, going fishing, mentoring both young men and women in the community. Most of all, he loved being around his family and friends.
He is preceded in death by his Mother, Juanita Mobley-Cunningham; stepfather, James Cunningham; grandparents, Alva and Roy Mobley; and grandmother, Minnie Gurley Walker.
Greg is survived by his sister, Paula Hale Joyner (David), of So. Pittsburg TN; niece, Courtney Laprade of Atlanta Georgia and 2 cousins (as close as any brothers can be), Allen Murphy, of Nashville Tn and Joseph Taylor of So. Pittsburg; 3 very special friends, Brenda Moore Senter of Maplewood , NJ, Diana Carter and Keith Garth of So. Pittsburg TN; and a host of friends and family.
Public viewing will be held 10 a.m. – 11 a.m. Thursday, November 30, followed by an 11 a.m. funeral service in the chapel of the funeral home. Interment: Chattanooga National Cemetery.
