Gary Lynn Bitzer, 70

Gary Lynn Bitzer, 70, of Jasper, was called home to be with his Lord and Savior on Tuesday, November 5. On May 28, 1954, he was born to the late Arthur Bitzer and Maybelle Duerkson.  Gary was married to Carol Cahoon for 42+ years and was a member of Castle Rock Baptist Church. He was all about family and loved taking his grandkids to the park. Gary never met a stranger and would help anyone in need. He always made you feel special and loved. He proudly served 20 years in the United States Navy and served with the Sequatchie Valley Honor Guard. He was a member of the VFW for 20+ years and drove the bus for special needs children in Marion County.

Gary is preceded in death by his parents; brothers, Harlan Bitzer, Larry Bitzer and Gerald Bitzer.

Left to cherish his memories are his wife, Carol Cahoon Bitzer, sons, Arthur (Elizabeth) Bitzer, Nick Bitzer; daughters, Heidi (Stephen) Bradley, Heather Bitzer; brothers, Dennis (Joan) Bitzer, Victor Bitzer, Kenny (Inez) Bitzer; sister, Roselyn (Don) Cunningham; grandchildren, Abigail, Ezekial, Melody, Julia & Malachi, Nathan, William, and Rachel, several nieces, nephews, other family members and special friends.

There was a visitation on Friday, November 8, from 4 p.m. to 6 p.m. at Tate Funeral Home in Jasper.

There will be a Celebration of Life held at the VFW in Jasper on December 6, at 2 p.m. Military Honors will be presented by the Sequatchie Valley Honor Guard at the VFW. Gary will be interred at the Chattanooga National Cemetery in Chattanooga, Tennessee.
