At 6:48 a.m. on January 21, firefighters in the Jasper, Kimball, and Haletown departments convened on scene at the 300 block of West 4th Street in Jasper for a mutual aid structure fire.

Haletown Volunteer Fire Department along with Jasper and Kimball Fire Departments, aggressively fought the blaze, while also battling the extreme weather. Despite the rare snow, freezing temperatures, and significant ice covered roads making travel nearly impossible and several business and school closings in the area, firefighters made their way through the challenges to get the fire under control by focusing on an interior attack.

The duplex apartment suffered extensive damage and is considered a total loss, fortunately, there were no injuries reported among both firefighters and residents. In response to the displacement caused by the incident, the American Red Cross has been contacted to provide assistance to those affected.
