The Battlecreek Fire Department is looking for the culprit who broke into their fire hall recently and stole lifesaving tools.
“We had important lifesaving equipment stolen,” the department revealed of the burglary, noting the theft hit them hard as they do not have a lot of money to replace such equipment. “The department is on a limited budget and these pieces of vital equipment are not something we can afford to spend money on to replace.”
Among the items taken were VHF radios, firefighting nozzles, a 5” intake trash pump, a new set of turnout gear and a pressure washer. They are presently doing inventory to figure out what else is missing.
The department revealed there was a black Dodge 1500 seen in the vicinity of fire hall around the time of the burglary. Anyone with information concerning the incident is asked to contact the Marion County Sheriff’s Department.
