The Etna Coal Company at Whiteside, Tennessee sent this postcard to W. F. HUNT & BRO in Memphis, Tennessee on July 3,1890 letting them know that their order for X number of cars of coal had been received and would be shipped promptly. The card mentions that although the Etna Coal Company was out of Foundry Coke, that the coke would be shipped as soon as it was available. I have in my large collection of Marion County, Tennessee historic memorabilia a coal company token for this same business, at one time one of the largest thriving and profitable coal companies in the Sequatchie Valley.
