After five engaging years, the Marion County 4-H Performing Arts group arranged a concert for alumni who were originally part of the organization during past performances. The show took place last Thursday on Dec 18 at South Pittsburg’s Princess Theatre. The doors opened at 6:15 p.m. and the show began at 7 p.m., The performance was a two-hour show and ended a little before 9 p.m. Every song in the concert was selected from their past shows.
The show started with an introduction by Marion County 4-H Performing Arts co-director Isaac Blevins. The show began with a piece from the organization’s first performance, “Oklahoma!”, sung by Griffin Adkins with “Oh, What A Beautiful Morning.” Next, from 9 to 5, Abbie Cox performed “Get Out and Stay Out.” Then Tiegan Gibbs sang “Hopelessly Devoted To You” from Grease. Following that, Madison Munn performed “There Are Worse Things I Could Do,” also from Grease.
Continuing, Austin Hendrix, Griffin Adkins, and Payne Bumpus performed the selection “Single” from The Wedding Singer. Then, from the show “Oklahoma!,” Chloe Mcbee sang the song “Many A New Day.” After her performance, an intermission began, with snacks and drinks available for those who visited the evening show. Thereon the performances continued with Juliana Bynum’s “Waiting” selected from “The Addams Family.” Similarly, Payne Bumpus sang “The Moon And I,” also from “The Addams Family.” For the finale, Arianna Robinson did “Before The Parade Passes By” from “Hello Dolly!”.
Wesley Brewer, manager of the Princess Theatre and 4-H agent, was immensely excited to bring alumni back for another show. He expressed how he was extremely thankful for all their sponsors, especially Tower Community Bank for offering them many supportive opportunities such as this.
The show had received a well-rounded turnout—despite being free. Over 200 tickets were ordered and over 40 alumni from all around the county showed up to support the organization, allowing for an engaging way for the alumni to join in on the fun.
